Wow I really like how this is all coming together.

The color is gorgeous and unique. Will surely stand out in the sea of silver and black 996s!

Thanks! It really does work well together with the red/black. Too bad more 996's did not come in wild colors, seems like more folks are beginning to move in that direction with builds and full color changes.

Mirrors all cleaned up and ready for PPF

Hood completed ceramic and them PPF, should protect the Manthey sticker well. Need to find a good print shop to make a couple spares as this was the last one.

Beginning stages of ceramic then PPF on the rest of the body

Oh my goodness - take my breath away! I also gotta say, over the years I am liking the 996 front end more and more (but hey, I'm a 928 guy, so there's that :hiding: ) I've had the 997 and loved it, and it will likely be the 993 of the water cooled strain, but the 996 is creeping up in my book. And the 996 turbo is such an excellent package.

Thanks Linder! The 996 offers so much, especially the Turbos/GT3/GT2, between their toughness and power and reliability they do seem to begin to overcome the headlights lol. The 996tt motor has more charm than the 997tt IMO, but with what I am doing to the 997tt that could change.

If all 996.1s had aero I don't think it would have gotten the bad rep it did. The aero cars are really attractive in my book.

I was just giving Noah shit, but I agree. The .1 aero/GT3 is a great looking car. I may be slightly biased though. :beerchug:

996.2s don't look bad with a few aero bits on them as well

Hands down the MK1 Aero, 4S and then GT2 are the best looking of the 996's IMO. Followed by the Turbo/MK2 Aero/GT3 and GT3RS.

Love you Pat :beerchug:

GT2/GT3RS/MK1 GT3/MK2 GT3/Turbo/4S/GT3 Cup would pretty much be the dream 996 garage IMO...

Very cool. Both 3.6L? If you haven't already, check out the UAOS. I just learned that you can increase the oil capacity quite a bit with the UAOS on the 3.6. Pretty interesting what Skip engineered. I have his UAOS and track drain on mine.

I bought the first version and then upgraded with the gen 2 product. But I have yet to install it because I figured I'd be doing an engine rebuild on the blue one soon anyway.

I do need to get one for the black car as that is the track rat and could use this upgrade.

Back to the original question, they're both 2002 models with the 3.6.

Inching closer to the finish line with the last of the body/interior items. The last stuff is buttoning up the interior now that the cage is installed, shooting for the car to be back in two weeks :drink:

Home at last! Some small trim pieces awaiting on Porsche Classic but nothing major, time for a sticker and to enjoy for the summer/fall for the first time in over three years. Final drivetrain/GT2 Wiring harness/ABS will await until winter and having the 997tt off the lift. Which short of a vin will be about as close to a custom built PTS GT2 Clubsport clone.

Nearly three weekends of shuffling stuff around the garage to clear up her parking spot once again. This is always a problem with long term projects and buying multiple other cars in the mean time that take up all the available free space.

WOW!!!

It must be such a relief to finally get it to the point of being drivable.

Now the question is, are you freaked out about getting any nicks in the paint or road rash from taking it out? It looks so perfect now which is why I ask.

Oh and if you ever want an Open Road sticker for it, let me know and I'll send one your way.

Thanks Lupo! I need to get some better pictures outside with the DSLR, just need to figure out where the hell I put the battery charger for it since the last time it was used was about 7 years ago in Germany.

Stickers always welcome! The entire car was ceramic coated, then PPF over every inch. The rear fenders got a 2nd layer on the wear area. Not super worried about driving it yet other than awaiting the insurance coverage to be upped to cover the car.

Working on some last little things this weekend with some trim pieces that were still in my garage, along with chasing a few other little things down. Will be good to put a few miles on it this year, then comes the final phase of the project with the GT2 wiring/fuel tanks/ABS/turbos/gearbox, which will finalize the transformation. So short of vin, everything will match up to a factory + GT2 Clubsport build.

Thanks David! Got some miles in last year, this year only drove it once which is a shame, I do more miles now than ever, but they all tend to be in the work truck.

I did manage to spend some wrench time and get the new blue stitch wheel/shift knob in to match the door cards, along with some new seats :eyepop:

I know right?!

All the spare time has been sucked up with un-racecar'g the GT3. Pulled the data system out and currently in process of re-wiring things back to where they use to be as the switches and horn button were moved to the center console.

996 RS shift knob and boot and swapping out the 996 Cup seats to go back to regular GT3 buckets. Picked up a factory IVM GT3RS front and rear cage that will take place of the current safety devices. Then the next thing is to get rid of the damn cup clutch/flywheel and go back to a reasonable 4.04RS setup which will make driving it off the track a lot better.

Since the last post only put 10 more miles on the car this year sadly. Work life and some health issues pretty much sidelined the entire summer and fall regretfully. The short drive to get an inspection sticker was quite enjoyable.

Started helping my old man put a supercharger on the new to him Tundra. With the arrival of the Tremor, I offered him to buy the Tundra for what the dealer was offering. Since I have owned and took very good care of it, he jumped right after it and ordered up a supercharger for it. His older 2010 Rock Warrior was a factory TRD supercharged one and has been a super reliable truck over the past 15 years for him.

Made some progress on the Tundra over Christmas Day with my pops. Overall pretty easy so far getting things apart

To save our backs some lift brackets to use an engine lift are a nifty little Bridgeport job. Trying to lift 70+lbs over the fenders using bolts screwed into the side of the charger has misery written all over it, working smarter and not harder is the way.
Current status is to pull fuel rail now and do the injectors and some coolant pipes and start assembly. The only thing I do not look forward to is dropping the 40gal fuel tank to install the new fuel pump.
Image

Ended up mucking around a bit more with the GT3's interior and going to the leather set of seat inserts. Just awaiting a piece for the ebrake to show up from ebay as it appears the one I had got lost somewhere. I almost pulled the seats back out to install the OEM Clubsport cage, but since the car is slated to head to Markus in the fall for a full re-spray and carbon roof/doors some rear sheet metal work, it is easier to wait on that for the time being.

Was hoping the new gearbox would be here for the Widowmaker but it looks like it will be some time perhaps in February that it hopefully shows up. Which means I will have to get my ass in gear to get the 997tt project moving along which has mired on the lift for far too many years awaiting parts.
