How about some cross over.

Are feeling discouraged about the oil in your top end?
Maybe you shouldn’t.

Jaguar went in another direction. Just incorporate another sump, pretend it’s normal.

I do give them some points for the air/water intercoolers.

I don’t give them points for running a coolant line through the wall of the throttle body. What? Why?

Also no points for using bonded plastic for coolant components. Which is why I’m in here. :barf:

If it's not leaking oil, it's empty.

What's that 'extra' throttle plate in the 'sump' above the supercharger?

Yeah. My only thought was very robust idle control.

Riddle me these:

They are free hanging, on each side, floating around over the dust pan. Outside air temp sensor?
How could this be good.

TPMS Antenna, maybe.
Or Keyless entry Antennas.

Huh. Surely a bolt or five missing from those "initiators."

My guess was electric bug zappers. :kickbutt:

which Jag is it? I have a 2017 F-Pace 3.5t, that I need to dig into. How hard are these to work on?

It appears to be a supercharged V8. So... XK something-or-other.

That's my guess.

Hey Ed.
It’s a XF. The 3.0L v6.
I can’t say hard to work on.
Just annoying. 100 thousand of those “quick” release pull push tab connectors that want to break and make me crazy. But that’s industry wide now.

A lot of failure points in cooling system. Mostly because of materials used.
Because it’s a common issue there’s a lot of very detailed videos. And kits.

Here’s the famous J pipe.
Bonded plastic that lives between block and SC.

Obviously, without an engineering degree, I can predict that plastic would become brittle after heat cycles. So what’s the designer’s thought process here?
Cost? Mark the sticker price up three dollars. Save me the grief.
Conspiracy? They want them to break. They want limited resale value due to reputation?

Saves three minutes of factory assembly time? (And the cost of two hose clamps?)

Is that another sump for coolant, too? The British never stop innovating. (that vee looks like what I can see on my S4 so this is self deprecating, fyi).

Cheers

Yes!
Coolant was everywhere.
It’s weird. Jaguar kinda hermetically sealed the top end with plastic and foam inserts. Apparently, so you can’t hear the injectors click.
But then, a whole device called a “symposer”, was added. Which channels noise from supercharger to the cabin, maybe during WOT? Because that noise is “good”. ;)

This is some of the new kit going on.

SC bypass valve is my Guess.

Thankfully when the coolant pipes blew under the intakes of our F-pace, it was under warranty. They make a metal pipe replacement kit for it.

So far my XK-RS is

Looks like the TPMS antenna.

Interesting that the coolant upgrade kit included several other bits. One was an internal SC coupler, that must be a known failure point as well.

That’s the good news, the WP is up and forward, easy to get to.
The intake stuff comes off pretty quickly. You could get to it without dealing with much.
