I have had some designs for a while to make new rear couplers. After receiving a couple bad (out of tolerance) replacement bushings for the stock coupler housing, I decided it was finally time to make a couple of these and see how they work.
First couple samples arrived this week for evaluation. I am going to make a couple small tweaks on the tolerances for the bushing interface, but it turned out really nice, so think these will be going into production shortly.
They use a shoulder bolt for the axle, and Igus Z-series bushings pressed into the spline yoke. The shoulder bolt has an additional mechanical retaining feature via circlip so it can't back out, even if the threadlock fails. I have been using these bushings in the shift levers and front link delete kits for years, and they hold up incredibly well, so it's a 928 tested material.
Next up will be an alternative set screw. It will be stainless with an internal 6mm hex to avoid rounding like the stock grub screw. Hoping to get those started in the next week.
