I have overlooked this aspect on the track car.
Meaning. I deleted a/c lines years ago and left the factory cooler in place — essentially without cooling. And then tracked the car. Blissfully ignorant of any detrimental consequences.
I’m cooling everything else now so here we go.
I removed the factory unit last night and return line on the rear wall last night. To make room for a new air intake intercooler. Long story.
I don’t know if design ever changed but in the S3 has a fuel cooler which is a brass cylinder about 10cm long with what look like internal fins.
While nifty design, not sure how effective it was.
I’m going to run braided 6an lines with a Derale fuel cooler in its place.
Conceptually, when you look at distance of return circuit going back into liters of larger volume “gas tank”, a small cooler still seems trivial.
