thought i would start a thread on it, so as not to clog up the quick questions thread.
when i get it fully finished i will post on here a how to make your own sensor and a better solution to fitting it in position
see post's in the quick question thread starting at #282472, half way down the second page for the ideas

more to follow when i get it fully made and fitted

so pictured below is the car harness side of the connector, a quality maker of connectors
cheers

i am getting closer to finishing this thread but if anybody has a faulty / missing HAVAC outside temp sensor, does not want to spend £200 on a new one, this might help.
89-95 models have a brown temp sensor -pictured below- on the coolant bridge part number 92860620103 which is the sensor for the coolant temp gauge.
this sensor has the same resistance readings as the HAVAC one, so is a direct replacement, just need a generic waterproof connector to plug onto it and you are good to go.
these are not exactly cheap new, but must be a few good second hand ones about at the usual 928 breakers.

to test its still a good sensor use a multi meter set to ohms and put the probes of the multi meter onto the terminals
of the sensor and the reading should be approx 700 ohms at 60 degrees F then hold the end of the temp sensor to warm it up and the reading should start to slowly go down
i have a good original HAVAC temp sensor and it was within 50 ohms of this sensor
very rough figures, if reading is 0 ohms or 10k ohms the sensor is faulty
cheers
