Anyone here ever have to have their air conditioner evaporator replaced in their Panamera. Dealer has had mine since May 24th. Called yesterday to tell me the windshield had to come out because they couldn't get to one bolt near the HUD to get the dash out. First had to wait a month for parts to come from Germany.

Service writer said hopefully it would be ready next week.

So I was sitting watching TV yesterday afternoon and first I got a text msg then almost immediately a phone call from PCNA notifying my car had been stolen!

Yes I subscribe to the Porsche Connect Services.

Getting to the evaporator I understood that the dash had to come out, however, neither the Porsche dealer or myself knew the windshield had to come out also. When they took the windshield out the car sent an alarm that it was being stolen.

Called dealer and they confirmed it was still sitting in their shop.

Good story re: removed windshield == stolen.

As for the evaporator… I find it hard to believe that the windshield has to be removed to get to ‘that bolt.’ Why? I find it hard to believe that the windshield is installed after the dash on the factory floor. It’s been 10 years since I did a factory tour and that wasn’t Leipzig where they make Panos. So, I could be wrong.

I haven’t looked at the WSM for the Pano. So, maybe I am wrong.

But, all that written, if I can touch a faster or see it - not necessarily both - I haven’t yet run into a situation where I can’t get it out. Sometimes I have to ‘make’ a tool. At least on a 928 and the 928 has some fasteners that are “fiendishly” placed.

I think that either the dealer tech hasn’t looked at the WSM or isn’t very creative.

But, none of that is helpful. Good luck.

Got my car back this afternoon. Temperatures 95* and cool in the car.

Plus, the dealership is going to send us a gift certificate for being patient and not complaining. Plus, they installed a new battery on warranty even though the car is only 2 yrs old.
