I might have to buy some toys this year on my company to avoid being taxed to hell and a new DD comes to mind as my trusty S5 is 10yo now. Still waiting on more info from CPA what magic can be done but better be ready than sorry.

Looking hard at Panamera Turbo S e-hybrids, MY2018-2020 both limos and sport turismos. Does anyone have experience with them? Considering hybrids as it has some tax advantages and I already have a single digit mpg p-car for fun :-)

I have driven the regular 4S, turbo and a v6 pana 4, was never overwhelmed by anything tbh but I just want a nice, fast DD. Thinking about an Audi RS7 or S8 as an alternative. Can anyone chip in?

I just paid for a 2018 panamera 4s e-hybrid in gt silver. The turbo s were too expensive for my taste and this one, with a good tune, will be a good DD.

I drove around 5k miles in it so now I can finally say how it drives.
It’s heavy af - being a hybrid - but hides the weight incredibly well and it’s balanced exceptionally good. In normal suspension setting, it’s actually BETTER on bumpy roads and speedbumps than a cayenne. 21” on both, no runflats.

In sport+, it becomes really alive and the engine combo is very much like a large displacement NA engine or a really good supercharged engine.
Brakes are not as well blended (regenerative braking) as on the cayenne.
In electric, I can drive around town for roughly 25 miles, the electric motor has ample torque and power for town driving in yerp.
The PDK is not the best option for a hybrid IMO - in some ways I feel like it’s less harmonic than in the cayenne with a regular slushbox.
E-charge (manually charging the vehicle while driving on freeways for example) is WAAAAAAAY better on the older cayenne, again I think this is the PDK vs. regular auto tranny issue.

So far so good. I like it and can’t wait for it to get “a bit” more power with a tune.

It’s in the pipeline and I’m in no rush so I figure it’s gonna take 5-6 weeks.

I'm a fan of unusual colors on P-cars so don't ask me as I'll encourage reckless behavior and you'll end up with something purple with yellow polka-dots!

My wife loves her cayenne hybrid. And yes, it saves three metric fucktons of fuel, compared to her 957TT it’s literally at 1/3 or even 1/4 in full city driving cycle.
Longterm fuel consumption in the last 12 months is at 9.8L/100km which is pretty much dead on 24mpg. Mind you, it’s got a smaller diameter pulley on the supercharger and is tuned to 540hp total system power.
When my wife stays in the city and she doesn’t do freeway, she easily does 500-550 miles on a single tank and the fuel mileage comes to 45-48mpg. When we do freeway (100-120mph is the norm here), the fuel mileage is around 14L/100km so around 16.8mpg.

Keep in mind: driving in the US and EU is very different. The speed limit in cities in EU is generally 30mph or lower and a looot of time the driving is slow stop & go which is perfect for fully electric mode. Freeway speeds are typically way higher than in the US at 90mph+.
In US cities, longer stretches of roads and generally a very different city layout combined with higher speed limits mean you will drain the battery way faster in fully electric mode. OTOH, slower overall freeway speeds mean that you’ll save fuel compared to yerp driving on freeways.

Thanks for the reply that’s how I thought it worked since my wife will be the main driver she does a lot of around the area driving taking care of her mother. That said she wants a Toyota Highlander because it is like her Prius was no plug in all generated while driving. I am looking at a 2019 base which is fine for me but I can not figure out if it has an adaptive cruise control. Side note it has a sunroof delete how cool is that!

Some real world driving figures.
Stayed within the city more or less today, a bunch of short trips, drove all in all 61.4km / 38.15 miles. Did a short, 15mi freeway trip at around 150kph / 93ish mph and drove back on back roads.
Started out with a full charge that showed 39km / 24.3mi range, came back home with 0 remaining range.

The average fuel consumption is 2.4L per 100km which comes to 98mpg.
Not bad for a 495hp 4x4 car riding on 21” tires I have to say.
