Earl Gilstrom passed last night.
He hasn't been active in the 928 world for more than 5 years.
Earl was one of the early giants of the 928 World. Having bought a 356 speedster - new - he was in the Porsche World since it began.
The 928 world and the wider world are diminished by his absence.

Anyone in the central east coast and beyond who needed service on their 928 experienced a large loss when Earl stopped working on their cars. His knowledge, experience, and interactions are a loss for all of us.. RIP in peace Earl, and give Terri a hug from all of us who knew her.

sad news indeed. anyone have some pics of Earl they can post? I think in the thread of those we have lost we should start posting pics of them in better times so we can go back on occasion and remember.

Sad news. Earl was a good man and a very experienced mechanic. No torque wrench needed. I'll never forget when he showed me what seemed like hundreds of old 928 timing belts hanging in his garage, like notches on his belt from all the jobs he had done. RIP Earl.

Knew it was coming but it's still very sad. Talked to Earl a great many times and he was a wonderful person along with his immense knowledge. Many times we'd start out chats asking for advice (both coming and going) and then talk about life. He's been missed over the years and now that he is truly gone, I'll tip a glass for him in remembrance.
