I've got a number of rock chips on the hood of my Cayman and want to fix them without an entire repaint.

Anyone try those Dr. ColorChip kits and happy with the results? They have a PCA kit for under $60 so price seems reasonable but how are the results?

Makes the spots somewhat less noticeable. It'll turn a 10-footer into a 5- or 3-footer.

This, for dark colors. Not sure how well it'll work on light colors like you Cayman.

Check with your dealer or local (best) detailer and see if they use an airbrush guy
When I was in Atlanta, the BMW & Porsche dealer (Hennessy) used a local company that had unbelievable results; guy did the touch ups on all the high-end trade ins.

I remember one PCA member who had a full concours (Parade level) 993C2S and bumped a guardrail at Road Atlanta; the airbrush guy touched it up and NO ONE could tell, car went on to win at local and National level.

I've used it on my dark blue metallic 991. Not the magic they make it appear to be in their ads, but looks better than before.

I don't like blended paint/clear touchup.

Since it's a daily driver it doesn't have to be perfect but with some of these chips I can see the primer which is obviously not good.

That's a good idea. I just don't want to get to the point where it approaches the cost of just repainting the hood. But I'll ask my local PCA and see what some others say there as I know it's an issue around here with all the construction debris on our roads.

How is this different than what Dr. C offers?

My mistake. I thought DR Color Chip was one of the one coat touchup paints.
