Enhanced Drop links available

Drop links kits are now available~! I went a little extreme on the quality. Brackets are milled from 304 stainless, and the spherical bearings are 440c Stainless and designed for high load. Threads are integrated into the brackets to minimize hardware. Spacers are also integrated into the bracket negating yet more bits. These are all metric with no special bushings required to convert SAE bits to fit on the metric hardware for the 928. Custom grade 10.9 adjustment bars round out this kit. Available for purchase @ 928srus.

There are only 10 sets of each available.

How are these different from Louie's or Hans versions?

this is going to be a bit of a long winded answer.

Going back to the late 90's when Louie 1st came up with these he was working with what was available at the time. Spherical bearings were readily available but only in SAE dimensions, so the 1st order of business was to make bushings to convert the SAE spherical bearings to metric hardware that bolted to the sway bars and the lower shock mounts. This required 8 of these bushings just for the front M12 bolts as well as 8 for the rear M10 bolts. The original brackets were made from steel channel material that available at the time and was painted red to prevent rust. I had a set of these and Louie and Dave Roberts made a good number of these. I lost a couple of the bushings and was a little cranky because no extras were made so I couldn't use them. Louie's original sets had 4 different brackets, Right Front, Left Front, Left Rear and Right Rear between this and the high number if little bits and pieces, resulted in a good number of them not being installed and ending up in boxes for "later" installations.

Hans made some improvements and converted the fronts to metric, and that cut down on the number of front bushings to 4 but they were still custom, and if you dropped one and it rolled away you could get one from Hans if he had them in stock. Rears were still SAE and needed 8 custom SAE to Metric Bushings and again if you lost them you could get them from Hans if he had them available. He also improved the mounting brackets where 4 different brackets were no longer needed, just front and rear brackets which were CNC machined and zinc plated which was a solid improvement over the original ones.

Then we come to my version. The brackets are 304 stainless steel with integrated threads for the mounting bolts so less hardware is needed, as well as integrated spacers to provide better geometry without adding extra parts. The 304 stainless spacers that I use for the fronts are readily available online thru Amazon or McMaster Carr and other places should one of the little bastards roll away as they are prone to do during assembly or maintenance. You don't have to chase me down for them and I'd prefer that you don't. If you loose one, just order the replacement from amazon. The installation instructions have the dimensions.

The rears I converted from SAE to metric and had the adjustment bars ( like the front) custom made and hardened to 10.9 standards. there are small sleeves in the bores of the spherical bearings as they are 12mm and the bolts for the lower control arms and sway bars are both 10mm. There are also some spacers for the rear, and like the sleeves and spacers for the front they are stainless off the shelf and can be purchased from amazon or McMaster Carr and other places. The brackets like the front are 304 stainless and have integrated spacers as well as threads.

The Spherical bearings that I choose are a 3 piece bearing with the body being Stainless, and are the highest load bearing I could find for this purpose. My goal was to use the highest quality materials and parts and try to keep the pricing close to what they have been sold at before.

And I thought you might just say that Louie's drop links sets had red mounting brackets that attach to the sway bars. :hiding:

I must be drawing a blank on this, but what is the bracket for? How does this fit?

The bracket allows the drop links to mount to the sway bars.

the bracket allows the fulcrum to be moved in a sense to make the car act like it has a larger swaybar.
