have been looking into the factory pliers that should be in the tool holder of a 928.
i only know the 87-95 models so earlier models my be different.

they were made by HAPEWE, in Germany, BUT not all HAPEWE pliers fit in the tool holder.
the ones that DO fit, and i have tested, need to be 8mm thick and have a certain pattern on the handles.
the ones that DON'T fit are approx 10mm thick and have a cross hatch on the handles.

other pliers that DO fit and are identical to the HAPEWE ones are made by UNIOR and have 160 on the handles and from a copyright view are an exact replica of the HAPEWE ones

so i have the pliers, just need the red handles, i tried heat shrink but could not find the right red, although i have some coming from China.

then had a brain wave yesterday, being a mechanic for 40 years and have used many makes of tools over the years, i saw a pair of pliers at the back of my tool box and thought ah yes...

after a little heat on the pliers from a hot air gun, i removed the plastic handles and fitted them to the pliers

a lovely tight fit

these handles are 10 + years old and have been used a many times, so not new looking, but would need to be a concourse judge to tell the difference.

the tools these came from are made by Knipex, as mine were a few years old they do not have the Knipex logo on them.
i might buy a new one and see how far impregnated into the plastic the logo is

hopefully will help others make their tool kits look more factory, must be more than me who are sad that way

I have several sets of the pliers. One set is the factory red handle version and the other version is the non red handled version if anyone is looking.
