Hey guys.
Installing new OEM clutch disks, dual disk ‘86.5.

WSM makes a point to recommend that you need to offset the two disks, each marked with a yellow (or white?) dot, which I think signifies the heaviest point of the disk.

New disks, no dots. No yellow markings.
Shall I assume that they are balanced, lacking any other option?

New supplier ran out of dots.

They are probably fine: 21st century manufacturing processes.

I recall reading up on the double disc clutch when I had my 86.5 5-speed. A lot of confusion, including some saying the WSM had some part of the instructions wrong and there being speculation that Porsche went to the single disc clutch in '87 because of all the problems their field techs were having R&R'ing the double disc system. I never understood all of it and perhaps it is all just internet lore, but I hope @worf your are right and better manufacturing processes result in better discs and less problems!

The balance of the friction discs (or anything to do with the friction discs) was never the problem with the OE DD clutch.

It was the self-adjusting intermediate plate designed by an insane and angry German engineer that worshipped Rube Goldberg.

This is interesting as per intermediate adjustment.
It sounds like somebody paid this guy to learn how to do a 928 clutch. But he has this technique that is a departure from WSM:

Now this is interesting.
This guy has his intermediate plate pinned at a certain gap. I didn’t know this was an option either.
