Wonder what condition the Shop Vac is in after he's done.

I bought a pump that I use with my small gas engines but haven't considered using it on the P-cars yet.

Last week I changed the oil on the Cayman and it was the cleanest one I had ever done. I think I got it figured out now (3rd time is a charm!) as it is a bit tricky since suspension pieces get in the way of removing the filter.

The 996 and Cayenne are easy though. On those two the filter is fully exposed and simple to remove without a mess.

You are not pulling any oil out the top.

Just adding some vacuum so you can get the plug out and you hand out of the way, before you shut off the vac and let the oil drain.

Ah ok I get it now.

I thought his intent was to pull the oil from the top. But yes this does seem to make life cleaner then!

I learned this truck from the John Deere service tech when we were changing a o'ring on a hydraulic line from the tank to the pump deep in the belly of my bulldozer. He had a shop vac on the truck and hooked it to the hydraulic tank and put a vacuum on the tank so we could break the hose loose from the pump and change the o ring without draining the 25 or so gallons of oil that was in it.
