one i bought cheap from ebay, hinges and mountings are all good, its just the top surface of it is starting to peel off, looks like its been in the sun for the last 37 years but thats hard to believe as its from a UK car.
is this a common fault for you guy's in hot climates ?
anybody had one wrapped in an original looking finish?
cheers
Phil

Not seen damage like that on my S4 spoilers, including two folding ones, despite hot sun and the cars spending a fair bit of time parked outside.
The only damage I've seen on an s4 spoiler was the threaded M6 pins coming loose when the metal discs on them inside the spoiler rusted out.

Looks to me like it has been painted before and painted again with a textured coating ,with the light colour showing through would think original material Black all the way through.

pictures of one of the folding hinges there is a piece of black plastic in the gap to stop the spring and cable jumping out, anybody know if it should be there, or is it an aftermarket "fix" ?
the other side hinge does not have it and the spring keeps jumping out of the slot
cheers
