Open Road

stripping this 90 S4 down i noticed the door air vents looked identical, but had different part numbers on them.
92857408703 and 08803.
pictured below side by side they are identical except for the open/close lever goes the other way, they are both in the closed position as pictured

i think the right side one is NLA, but the left side is still available.
so if the flaps etc are broken on the right side one, just put the other side one in its place, i doubt a concourse judge would know the difference.
probably of more use to us in the UK as the NLA one is the drivers side for us and more chance of breaking it.

agreed. Other than where the slider is, no difference and nobody would ever know if you used one to repair the other.

a slight update
for the 78-86 model years the door vent main housing is slightly rounded around the open/close flap, see pictures and so fits the 78-86 models only, part numbers are:

left side 92857408702 £273
right side 92857408802 NLA

for the 87-95 model years the main vent housing is square shaped at the open close vent end so fits the 87-95 models only
part numbers are

left side 92857408703 £25
right side 92857408803 £70

i can confirm the bottom open / close vent and the actual vent flaps from the 08703 fits all versions of air vents.
pictured is one from an 85 with the vents / flap from the 87+
easy enough to swop, just need to be gentle as they are a tight fit, better to do things like this on a hot day, plastic less likely to crack when its warm

edit.
i ordered 3 of the 08703 vents from local OPC and invoiced for them today for £25 each, but looking on rosepassion site they now have them at £69 each
maybe i just got the last 3 originals they still had on the shelf from 1986, see date on the original red sticker
