SHARKS IN THE MOUNTAINS 2024!!!

As ALWAYS, Sharks in the Mountains is the FIRST Saturday in June. This year is June 1st!

I changed things up last year and I expect to make a few more changes this year.

As details are confirmed, I will update the website and post back here.

Please register asap: https://www.928gt.com/t-sitm.aspx (it’s free) and please let me know what size t-shirt you would like. I expect them to be around $20 again this year. I will confirm this and all other details with you EARLY in May.

*** PLEASE NOTE: I will need to confirm attendance with you earlier than in previous years. You should receive your confirmation letter by May the 3rd and I will need a reply back from you NO LATER than May the 10th. Please help me, and everyone involved, by responding asap!

Don’t forget, Hotel reservations and Sharks in the Mountains registration are TWO SEPARATE THINGS! Please do both!

I CANNOT wait to see everyone as we kick off the 928 season together once again!

Much like @Rick Carter , I am hosed for a room.

I got caught in a voluntold issue at work, and would not be available for SITM. Now, I am.

So, if anyone has to cancel, I will gladly take over your reservation.

Well now...
I just got off the phone with Best Western. I was intending to ask to be put on a 'cancellation' list. When I called earlier, I just asked for a room for the weekend of the 31st. I was told there was no availability.
Now, I told the lady that I was with the SITM group. There was no availability because the SITM had a block of rooms reserved.
I now have a room.

@Rick Carter , call Best Western again and tell them you are with the SITM group.

Thanks, called them directly and am booked, will be there with my Miata lol. The SITM block is until May 3rd then opens to the public, still rooms available

I'll be there, just late Friday night. Anyone have a pair of Blue 928S3 seats? If so bring em, I'll deal.

Since many of us have come to know Banner Elk through SITM...

I have been dealing with Hurricane Helene stuff in Florida and only just this morning realized what a wreck Banner Elk, Beech Mountain and Boone are due to flooding (that looks like it might get worse).

SITM was my first reason for visiting the area. Crazy to read stories of people (residents, vacationers, Lees Mcrae college kids, etc...) trapped with all roads washed out, etc...

Hope there's relief for all of the affected!

My wife is from a small town, Newport, TN, on the other side of the mountains from Boone. Here is what their downtown looked like yesterday. The upstream Dam (Waterville Dam in NC) overflowed and flooded the town (according to authorities, it did not "fail" as had been rumored). Grim outlook on recovery.

So sad for so many people. Thanks Carlos for posting and keeping us informed.

I heard some at Frenzy say Banner Elk was basically gone. My sister and her family are all in the Asheville area. Completely devastated. Just terrible.

Banner Elk and Avery County took a hard hit from Hurricane Helene on September 27th, but we are making great progress with our recovery! We are now open for visitors and residents to return. While the core of downtown escaped damage, flooding damaged homes, roads and businesses on three sides of town.
