I’ve been out more Phil, it’s overrated, I would much rather putter in the garage:)

It’s exquisite. More pics as we go.

bodyshop have now lacquered the crank, flywheel and bottom pulley powder coated gloss black.

i was going to weld the crank bolt to the pulley and then weld a water tight plate so could just fill the pulley with water, but needs to be cleaned out regularly to help stop bird flu spreading, so found a bowl that is a perfect fit at the local pet store, marketed as one for a cat, which is ironic.

if the pulley does need to be removed in the future i got a bolt that was a snug fit in the pulley, locked it solid with the nut on the end, then locked the pulley bolt with 2 more nuts, so now no need for a 27mm socket, just unscrew the pulley by turning it.
plus lots of lubrication on the pulley bolt thread

walked in the same local pet store with a con rod in hand needed to now find a feeder that would bolt to con rod, only one i found with a flat metal base was for fat balls

and the finished article, placed next to a shrub, so the little guy's can hop from shrub to bistro, as have a sparrow hawk that often fly's around, so they can feel slightly safer in the shrub.

might be a little low to the ground, but no cats in the area so should be safe enough

just need some pictures of birds actually using it
cheers

proof it works
had to ship it to a work colleagues house as he regularly feeds birds so there were plenty about, but getting close enough so they did not fly away took him a little time and patience to get the pictures.
said he even got a woodpecker feeding on it but sadly flew away before he had chance to take a picture
and no sniggering in the back there when looking at the Blue Tits in cold weather....
cheers

Here’s a tangent.
This fat lady seemed unimpressed with me tonight.
She seemed to show up just when the neighbor let out his four noisy Chihuahuas. :beerchug:
