It’s all redacted now. I can guess what happened.
There's another thread too. But, it's probably been cleaned as well.

It ended up being the intermittent lack of a main engine ground. There was 104 sharks there that year. I went 2 years (2006 and 2007). I drove the Stepson in 2006 and the blue 89 in 2007. I believe that Sterling went in 2007, but as a passenger.
I remember thanked roger for all the parts he'd shipped...he said it was better if we didn't discuss that at the event. Big tent in a field by grandfather mtn. It was 08. Lotta sharks, maybe100.

My son was very young, we'd just gotten the 86 off the jack stands the day before. No seat time except the ride down from richmond. I looked up and saw him lined up with front bumper on the tailcone of AOs supercharged car rolling out towards the pkwy. Fear is all I felt.

If I were to guess, they don't want to piss off Greg by slapping him down as he's about the only one left giving proper advice in that forum.
I assume Roger is forcing RL to confront the GB issue.

That's when I first met you as well. The fun run with AO leading the way was something. Shortest driver's meeting I ever attended - he said two words - "keep up". Jumped in the car and off we went. It was a blast!
SITM 08 was our first. Son and I brought a pair of just rescued, cobbled up red 928s. Met the texas crew. They had struggled the whole way with a sick shark. 928srus was just getting established. Terrifying ride down the parkway, following the Detroit guys, particularly AO.
I read nearly every RL tech post for 2 years straight trying to learn.

Summary - in my opinion, there has been an unfortunate aspect of the 928 community wherein some vendors have gotten away from being friendly competitors. Yes, it's a business, and their income is reliant on your successful service to customers. An athletes success is dependent on intense competition, but a vast majority of them can shake hands and perhaps even 'hug' when the game is over. Wish we could get a bit more of that comity in our community.
Soap Box sent to recycle shop for refurbishment!!

Customer oriented.I agree with this. I think Greg adds great knowledge and value, but as he started getting more into parts sales versus designing things for customers, he started getting sharp towards Roger. The ego also got too big. It's unfortunate. The market is such that all of these guys should be able to get along. Roger isn't a dick head (at least not that I've ever seen ), so it is too bad that the other "competitors" have to take a zero sum approach.
I dont need the rest. Dont care how nice they are nor how sophisticated their parts are.

checkmate1996 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:25 am at the rate everyone is leaving RL - there won't be much left to moderate....Well, as I've said before, and I am all in on this new sandbox, however it is not realistic to think that any place can quickly replace the knowledge base of Rennlist 928 forum. Even though I am "here", and have been from day 1, I'm still "there" too and hope it remains a viable resource well into the future. I know others think differently about that, but it is what it is. I am done with anything other than the tech forums there, however. The OT/PC sections are dead to me. I prefer the Diner and Dive Bar here for most of that sort of thing, beyond the tech stuff.

I'm not certain I need the part I inquired about enough to justify the price, but it was available and he replied in a timely manner.
