Looks like this weekend is open for me!

Trying to figure out if the family is joining or not. If so then I will likely look for accommodations closer to the beach (yeah I know it's slim pickings at this point) so we can make a long weekend out of it.

I'm thinking about creating badges so we can identify ourselves in public and make it easy to know that you're with OR (so we all know who to say hi to!)

What do you all think about that?

WERKS IS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!!!!

https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/po ... pca-574602

It is FILLING up and I think we're guaranteed to have our OWN 928 judged category. For $25 more than the parking corral, it's money well spent and is a HELLUVA lot of fun!

I just registered Two 928s to the Judged section and one 924S for the Judged section. Contemplating adding my Cayenne to the Corral.

There are already 118 entries for judging (all makes) and 156 entries for the parking corral.

YOU MUST BE IN ONE OR THE OTHER TO ATTEND!

Already up to 12 928s for Judging

1978 Porsche 928
West Reading, PA

1978 Porsche 928
Peachtree City, GA

1995 Porsche 928
Marietta, GA

1990 Porsche 928 GT
Friday Harbor, WA

1993 Porsche 928 GTS
Centerburg, OH

1984 Porsche 928 S (Rest of World)
Pickerington, OH

1990 Porsche 928 S4
Jacksonville, FL

1987 Porsche 928 S4
Lovettsville, VA

1991 Porsche 928GT
Virginia Beach, VA

1988 Porsche 928S4
Jacksonville, FL

1988 Porsche 928S4
Tucker, GA

1988 Porsche 928S4
Palm Beach Gardens, FL

There are 7 other 928s in the Parking Corral.

As of this writing, that's nearly 20 928s for Werks. That's about 17 more than I've ever seen

We are up to 23 (14 judged and 9 in Porsche Corral) at Werks Reunion and as many, if not more for Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Cars & Coffee.

The weekend is going to be a CANNOT miss. You WILL be kicking yourself for missing out.

------
Words from RSMartin - which he asked me to post.

This year's event is larger than a local 928 event . This is a Grand Stand Event for the 928 Community. This may be one of the most important event our community will attended.

I could be wrong but how many times has the 928 community, at this capacity, been represented in a PCA WERKS Reunion and Major Cars and Coffee event.

We have a chance to dominate the Porsche events of Amelia Island.

This is a statement of our community and a major show of force to the Porsche world that we are the true super car that was developed by Porsche . Please Don't let this opportunity pass us by.

side note, This community has many great events all of which are important and support our community. Please do not take any disrespect or feel I am trying to imply this is or could be better than any of those events. This years event is focused solely to show the Porsche community how strong were are and how much support we have. I joke about the bastard stepchild revolt.

But this is the bastard stepchildren time to shine in front of a world stage.

Condo booked on Fernandina Beach!

We'll be arriving on the morning of the 21st and leaving on the 23rd. Bringing the family so I probably won't be able to attend all events but I wanted to make sure to experience the scene and most importantly meet some of you in person!

Looking forward to it...

Thanks to those who have registered for Rendezvous 928 : Sharks Circling Amelia Island. We have 18 928s and 25 people signed up for our entire weekend event - YOU really need to register with us to participate/get SWAG.

We're so excited for the event that we are now going to CHASE people who said they were accepted to C&C OR were previously committed to attend. That number is 31+ 928s and 38+ people. It will just be great to have everyone signed up so there are NO disappointments.

We know you probably don't like being chased but we're doing it because our hotel room block ends SOON and, as others have indicated, the Werks event is now progressing to Corral only. We don't want anyone left out!!!!

Please consider booking all of the following before time runs out...

Our Main Registration - https://rendezvous928.com/2021Registration (you have NOT completed this if you only registered for Werks, C&C OR booked a Hotel Room)
Werks Reunion Registration - https://rendezvous928.com/2021WerksReunion
Hotel Registration - https://rendezvous928.com/2021HotelRegistration

CONFUSED? See our Event Guide and if still confused - message Me (JEJ3), Scott (RSMartin) or email [email protected]

If you want a bottle of the 928 Buckeye Landsharks Bourbon then be sure to register and pre-purchase a bottle. We're only offering 30 bottles so when they're gone, they're GONE! No one will be making this bourbon with the Sharks Circling Amelia Island label ever again... Pretty cool keepsake and it's very good 100 proof whiskey if you decide to actually open it :drink:

Hey @fpena944 -

Youth Judging is a PCA thing where kids get together and "judge" some of the vehicles. I don't know if kids need to be registered or ?

As for # of cars, each car needs to be registered to their own driver. I have two 928s and one 924S being judged. Because they don't have spectator parking, I'm putting my Cayenne in the corral. I'll likely have 10 people in attendance between family and friends. It's a logistical nightmare :)

Not sure if it is stacking the deck or emptying the wallet :)

Fortune smiled on me yesterday though as I met the Amelia Concours Director of Operations and his wife at a bar in St. Augustine. He's as excited about all the 928s now as any of us. He is the owner of the CAD drawing for the C&C layout and he's going to make sure all the 928s are together.

Or at least that's what he said after the tequila ;)

Sharks,

Tomorrow @ noon, Mike, Dave and I will bottle & hand label the 928 BLS "Sharks Circling Amelia Island" 100 Proof Bourbon. This is a very small batch of single barrel bourbon bottled & labeled just for this event! I'll have a bottle (in the hotel parking lot ala Frenzy style) if you'd like to have a snort without opening your bottle. No worries :drunk:

Hey EVERYONE!   Super important....   If you HAVE NOT made a HOTEL RESERVATION, the group block expires on May 6th.    Right now there are 18 rooms in the block of 25 that have been reserved.   It is FINE if you reserved with the hotel previously or have alternate accommodations.

It will NOT be fine if you don't have a reservation as the left over rooms in our block will expire on May 6th and be dispersed to other groups who need them.

So - if you are on the fence --- BOOK YOUR ROOM

Tomorrow, May 6th - the hotel block is given back to other groups. You need a break from COVID... FLorida is OPEN!!!

Also, you are nearly out of time to register for WERKS REUNION spectator parking.

THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR WERKS REUNION (from one of their leaders)

Since the registration site is closed down and we have sold out of judged and corral spots, we are offering one last option to register for a spectator parking pass. We have a limited number of passes and you will need to purchase one before Friday May 7, 5PM EDT. Price is $40 and you will need to call the PCA office at 410-381-0911 during business hours to place your order with a credit card. They will process your order and mail your pass out to you.

You will also need to sign the Covid release that PCA is requiring.

The QR code is all done on the phone and is the easiest way to access the forms. With the QR, all they need to do it open the attached and use your phone’s camera. A pop-up will appear on the phone and once you click it, the SpeedWaiver will ask for name, phone number, and acknowledgement to take picture and sign. Thanks for your understanding during these crazy times.

YOU HAVE UNTIL MAY 7th at 5PM EDT.

Quote from that other place:

FYI, the final tally for the 2021 Werks AI is 33 total 928's are registered; 16 are entered in the Judged category & 17 are registered for the Corral. Maybe a few more might have made it in to the limited general parking area too. I'll have a special display area in the Corral for the 928's for all to see. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll have my '85 928S there with you(maybe my 968 Cab), but I'll be working the event anyways running the Corral(ie: parking Porsches!).

The last big gathering of 928's in Florida with numbers close to this was our 928 OC 2007 Sebring Shark Shiver event during the PCA 48 Hours of Sebring, when we had 28 928's attend, including 4 racers. That event got recognition in Panorama magazine. So Big kudos to Trey & Scott for their time & work making this Shark Gathering happen, & to everyone who is coming. Lots for you to do & see over the three days of car events. You'll be glad you came. As you know, Werks Amelia Island is one of two national PCA Werks events; the Brumos Collection is well worth the visit; and the Amelia Island Concours is one of the highest rated concours in the world(the C&C on Sat. is fun too). Just bring lots of sun screen cause it can be hot in late May here, and hopefully no rain! I look forward to seeing/meeting you all, and your 928's! See ya soon, Mel.

Thank you, Mel! We'll have further guidance in the Event Guide for all who are attending. For the latest information, make sure to keep looking at it here --> https://rendezvous928.com/2021EventGuide

Sean, Is Roger coming to FL? IF all the bottles haven't sold out already, Scott can set one aside for you and Roger can pay / bring it back.

Duplicate post from Rennlist....

For the Fun Runs, the plan is to map them out and have them linkable from the Event Guide. If I get crazy enough, I might also get a file format which is downloadable to Garmin devices.

The Jekyll Island Run is a scenic run from the Fernandina area up SR 17 into Georgia. It is just pretty back road, old Florida driving. I promise to have more details on Fun Runs in the next few days - We will likely have a HARD time orchestrating any LARGE group runs due to traffic, etc... My goal is to make ANY run EASY and OBVIOUS so whether you are swimming with the pack or being a LONE shark, you'll be in friendly waters.

As for all the locations (food, etc..) PLEASE consult the event guide as everything is hyperlinked with Google Map locators for every mentioned location.

https://rendezvous928.com/2021EventGuide

Please ALSO make sure you do the waiver signing for PCA for Werks reunion by following the QR code. The details are a few posts before this one.

Lastly, if you've not been to North Florida. We are the home of Landshark Lager. It's a pretty good, Corona-ish type of lager. Just some useless info about BEER :)

Hey Everyone --

I hope ALL understand but it is REAL challenging to post the same content on here as on Rennlist. I don't want anyone to get left out of the information.

For this reason, if I post an update on RL, I'll screen shot it and share it here. I hope everyone understands that I'd love to have the exact same info in both places but it is just too time consuming to format the text of the posts in both places.

If you haven't signed up, there is an incredibly decreasing window to participate. We have some truly kick ass stuff planned for the attendees who REGISTERED with us.

If you just show up, we're going to enjoy hanging out with you but the registrants get the special treatment.

Thanks!

From the event guide, here's a visual of the schedule for the weekend. This is PROPOSED and I really need to hear comments about Fun Run options on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Image

There is a good sized group going to the Brumos Collection tour. I believe Scott (@RSMartin) will lead this group. We'll draw up a map and depending on timing, you might be able to do the Ferry crossing, hit a taco joint and take the slightly longer path to Brumos.

For those not doing Brumos, there's a great option of hitting all the fun spots of downtown Fernandina Beach (Retaurants, Breweries, waterfront, Fort Clinch, etc...) OR we can organize a Fun Run to Jeklyll Island and/or St. Simons Island (both are south Georgia) through the simple, timeless backroads of North Florida/South Georgia.

Don't forget to fill out your PCA Waiver for Werks Reunion!
