Was helping my kid organize his Hot Wheels today and look what I run across...a 928!

How about all of you, any cool toys or models to share?

^ Yeah I love that movie. It's the story of a ragtag group of misfits and their vehicles in the middle of nowhere under an apocalyptic sun running calls and wreaking havoc while attempting to maintain civilization within the thin veil of society . It reminds me of my job in a lot of ways.

Way back in the '80s I won first and third places in a model contest. The first place went to the Porsche, and third to the 1/8 scale Trans Am. I don't have those exact models anymore, but I did build another 928 and have a couple of spares in case something happens to it.

I've got a ton of 928 scale cars, 4 1:18th scale and people keep giving me the small matchbox ones. The only small one I've bought is this one, saw it on E-bay (I think someone posted it in a group on FB) and had to have it. It's the parts car for all the others.

Be careful what you wish for. Sean sometimes goes off reservation...

I have the teal Hot Wheels one, and a couple of 1/64 (ish) no-name 928s. A couple of which came out of Chex cereal boxes in 1989 or 1990. I recall you could win a real Porsche 911 (I think it was a Turbo they were offering) if your box contained a red 911. I didn't end up with a 911, but do still have the toy 928s that I got. They are in storage now, but I will post pictures when I get them out.

As promised:

On the left is the car that came from the Chex cereal promotion (with an extra interior piece in front of it. In the center and middle rear are Hot Wheels pieces. On the right is a brandless 928 that came in a package of 20 or 25 cars in the late '80s. Front center is probably the smallest 928 made. It came from a series of Micro Machines which opened up and had smaller cars inside.

^ Now you just need a shrinking machine aka "Fantastic Voyage."
P.S. Raquel Welch was in that movie, too!
