Loved the very last shot: where they had *clearly* spray painted the intake silver.

I got to the point of the TB/WP job and wanted to yell at the computer and then paused it. At least they got ahold of Roger for the PKT and a Laso pump. Gears don't look tooo awful bad.

Blasting the intake with the flappy assembly still on? Whollychit.............

Leaving the head oil pucks in and not installing pins and not changing the chain tensioners, although they may have done so off camera. Having been on the same side of the camera as they were, I know you can't get everything on film.

Not changing those fuel lines made me cringe.

just look at it this way... the more 928's they work on, the more ours will be worth when:

1. Engine eats it self from the blast media in the intake
2 Valve chain tensioner breaks , see 1.
3 Burns to a crisp due to fuel lines leaking( Bummer about this because few spare parts will live)
4. Engine eats itself due to not using pins, and one of the plugs in the head pops out.
5 These guys are dumb enough to park in in front of a pond in neutral so I wouldn't leave this out of available options.

Righteous outrage!

Actually, I like seeing 928s alive and being maintained. It's well short of best practice, and we specialists may cringe. But thanks to even this suboptimal work, the car will probably live long enough to get to the next refurb. Fingers crossed for the fuel lines...

tough crowd! I view it as a long job condensed to about 15 minutes total of film and commentary. Yeah the aluminum intake made me cringe, and I thought of some of the other stuff, but I think most shops are as deep into the WYAIT mode as we are, especially if the customer has a budget. Doesn't mean they didn't talk about some of these same things with the customer or fix things that never made it to the show.

I see what you did there. I've done it more times than I'd like to admit. Hit the quote tab, when you want to edit.

I watched that show when it was on; for the first episode. It didn't impress me. Very interesting that they want so much to be a 'contributor'.

Even though I know little about the 928, I was curious about the upper intake material. It occurred to me that it was likely made of magnesium. Looks as though my suspicion was correct.

There are a few Mg parts on the 944 S2 I own. They should not be treated as one might treat an aluminum part. The cam-drive cover, for example, is a known concern.

Another show that I really like on Motortrend is "Engine Masters". By me it's on Friday night at 8:00 and 8:30. It's from the Road Kill crew, where they do dyno testing on various things/changes to see the result. Always interesting discussions.

Yeah, that's a good one. One of the episodes involved what the oil level can do to the hp output of the motor. I was really surprised at what I saw. Overfilling is bad, but really only because there is foaming and resultant power loss. I thought that the bad thing would be too much pressure and blowing out the seals and gaskets. That wasn't one of their issues mentioned.
