Holy shyte! That's nuts. Off weight by 1.5 KG. They think it was due to the one tire strategy. I feel bad for him. He was very excited. The race itself was quite good. Max is dropping fast too. He did make up 4 positions during the race, but he is having some bad luck prerace.

Hamilton was so sour in the cool down room, he could barely choke out a congrats for Russell in the post race interview.... I bet now the full blown false humility will come out, thanking everybody profusely. He is so passive aggressive it drives me nuts.

He held the "goat" (I call him the gnat, greatest narcissist of all time) behind him with 36 lap old tires... I like Russell although sometimes he is a bit awkward, but the hate he gets from teamLH just makes me want him to destroy Hamilton on the track. Max would have had a completely different race if he didn't have that 10 spot grid penalty and the slowest teammate on the grid to hold him up by corking the bottle in the DRS train in the first stint. Without question the McLaren and the Mercs have caught the Red Bull with regard to pace. Max did keep Lando behind him and gained in the WDC standings if only by two points and one more race down.

Wow. I watched the race and then went about my day. Had no idea this happened until I read your post. That's a shame after he had driven such a great race, especially holding off Hamilton in those last laps.

And Sainz has announced that he's been picked up by Williams for 2025. I hope that they can provide a decent car for him. Otherwise he's way too good of a driver for that team.

I like Alex Albon but it will be interesting to see how AA compares to Sainz. He's been destroying Sergeant but that really isn't saying much. As much as I want to see an American driver, Logan isn't cutting the mustard. Albon will be shown to be a good driver (which I'd like to think is the case) or he will be exposed by Carlos....

This weekend's race in Baku was another fun one. Red Bull isn't leading the Constructors Championship for the first time in a long while and Max is not a lock on being the Driving champ this year, either.

Checo was finally having a good day for once - until he wasn't.

Unlike most times, I'd think that Piastri's 2nd win was far more rewarding than his 1st.

Piastri, IMO, is the real deal
Aggressive yet clean, and cool as a cucumber.. a rare combination
Wouldn't surprise me if he becomes the de facto #1 over time
Rare to see someone that fast and yet that calm

I agree, Piastri's composure under pressure is impressive to say the least. I think Lando has THIS YEAR to win the WDC or he will wilt under the pressure that Piastri will expose him to. I do like Lando though, he seems like a nice kid but needs to develop that champions killer instinct if he is going to continue as the number 1 at McLaren or wherever he may end up.

I'd like to see CLC make it close too, he's only 19 points off of Lando right now. One DNF from Norris and CLC and Piastri finish well and lo and behold it's game on....... although I think Max is enough of a driver to hold them off. Abu Dhabi could be a nail biter again.....

Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort disappearing from F1 calendar after 2026
The Formula 1 in Zandvoort will end in 2026. The contract between the Formula One Management (FOM) and the circuit will not be renewed after that, the organization announced. The Dutch Grand Prix wants to stop while it is at its peak.

“There were various options on the table to continue,” Dutch GP director Robert van Overdijk told NOS. “We could rotate with other circuits, there were also possibilities to continue annually.” But ultimately, the Dutch GP decided to pull the plug. “We made a lot of considerations and this is the outcome. Ultimately, it is our choice. The F1 top may be surprised, but they certainly respect and understand us. They know how we have to work.”

Van Overdijk denied that Zandvoort was in danger of falling between the cracks due to fierce competition from other continents. Formula 1 is trying to get a bigger foothold in Africa and Asia, for example. And wealthy nations like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar annually push tens of millions into the event from their state coffers. As a result, more races in Europe are expected to disappear in the coming years.

“Of course, we see that happening,” Van Overdijk said. “The world of Formula 1 has changed. We know the factors, but they did not influence our decision. There were all kinds of variations on the table. We would certainly have come to an agreement on that.”

The end of the Dutch Grand Prix has to do with major financial risks, he said. The Netherlands is one of only two Grand Prix that are privately funded and have to survive without government support. “A sold-out house three days in a row is necessary for us to operate profitably. That line is thin. A one-off dip is not so bad, but we cannot afford to structurally attract fewer visitors.” Though Van Overdijk stressed that the surprise exit was not a disguised attempt to get government support. “We are definitely stopping.”

“We started this adventure with three relatively small parties. Nobody thought we would be able to do this. We have now completed four wonderful editions,” Van Overdijk said. He called the decision to stop a brave one. “You might say: if it is successful, you just continue, right? But it is a message from strength. We are going out with a bang. Of course, it also gives a melancholy feeling, but above all, we are proud.”

“In 2026, we will conclude an iconic era in Dutch sports history. Max Verstappen was, of course, the main attraction. As far as I’m concerned, the greatest Dutch sports hero ever. Let’s enjoy the fact that there are still two more race weekends to come.”
