Whooopeee Sterling. SO glad to see it out on the macadam again. My last sighting was at 928 Owners Club OCIC in Dallas many moons ago.

Unfortunately, it seems that in your enthusiasm about how well it was running, you may have gotten to a speed above the structural design of the car for max speed. That's when the 'hood' blew off. If you retrace your path down that fast road, you might find it along side the4 road. I am afraid the paint may have a scratch or two, however.

Looking great in the 'hoodless' condition anyway.

Looks better - not sure. BUT, it certainly looks INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE! Congrats on a great job Sterling.

nowhere near as impressive as the engine bay above, that is a work of art.
but its my SE, so worth keeping it original under there, except for the GB fuel hoses anyway.

Yes.
The passenger side started to make a bit of noise few weeks ago.
When coming back from Camp 928, it seized.
The car didn't heat at all but I noticed that it was running only on one fan when I got home (full speed like it should when only one fan is working).
I changed the bearing on both fans.

getting ecu gauges displayed on the NAV display. I usually won't have as many dials but I'm breaking in a new engine, as well as transmission and Diff, so more info is always better.

17 years ago on the 1st of August the orange one was waiting for the GTS arches and fixed roof skin from local OPC

just put a generic bearing in the cam belt tensioner idle pulley 61905 is the generic bearing part number

the little countersunk bolt pictured in the middle is Porsche part number 90024900802 and is the same part number Porsche list for the mounting screws of the 87 folding spoiler hinge

you don't get vital information like this on other 928 forums

but still need to find the fffing countersunk washer that goes behind the screw, i must have it somewhere

I’ve been doing this for years: Saves my clients ~$40. I have a sack of cad-plated shells for core exchange.

Same thing for the under-crank-gear rollers. *That* saves ~$250!

yes i thought you pro's would be putting bearings in, i was meaning the vital / need to get out more etc information about the bolts being the same for 2 different purposes

did the bearings on a pair of bottom rollers for ebay at the same time 6201-2RS generic part number, i personally use an SKF bearing and not some cheap crap make, and a digital vernier gauge to get it in the middle of the roller

ever wondered whats inside a carbon canister ?
a lot of carbon

thought about trying to make a std tailgate lock into an alarm version.
not quite enough room to fit the genuine contacts, which i got from Porsche.
if i get really bored i might have a go at trying making my own version of it.
maybe one day

neither rear end in need of a refresh any time soon

collecting next weekend

will know when i get it on a lift at work
i wish i lived in a warm dry climate....

^^^^^ Fitment Mockup. Close enough until the car is up on a lift. Need to straighten one slat, then finish the polishing and get protected somehow (probably ceramic coat). I'm loving the subtle look!!!

if anybody needs the screwdriver for their tool panel, the one pictured is an excellent tight fit and looks the part

The 928 part supersedes to the 964 part. They are interchangeable.

I don’t know about “internal differences” but 964.613.012.00 is what currently supersedes the 928 part. I’ve put in many of the 964 parts; works fine.

I have many sets of the new ones, made of better materials. Using used ones is like splicing the plug end of an old Hall sensor in place of a crumbled Hall sensor plug end. Sorry.

Refurbished starter from a local Alternator/Starter repair shop. New bushings and solenoid. Hopefully no more potential starting issues.

87-88 owners extra crank sensor, for diagnosis only, bolted to the side of the intake manifold.
genuine mounting clamp 99951114202, not actually pictured on PET but only at the bottom of the part numbers page
pictured on a new aftermarket = a lot cheaper than genuine, sensor

Confirmed. It's US spec. Filming of that episode was in 1978. So, that was one of the first ones.

i bought it thinking it would be hard plastic covered in carpet, so could remove the carpet and stick some original black carpet on it, but its not that type of design.
was going to store it for a few years and see what the market was like, unless you want it.

center console trim piece, Porsche make a standard one 92855236200 and one for a leather covered console 92855236250
version for leather is pictured under the standard version.
as pictured its a lot thinner on the right side, but only slightly thinner on the left side

not very often you put a Bosch part number in google and it does not come up with a picture or description of it
removed from an 87 S4 and fitted to some 87-95 models
anybody want to take a guess as to what it is ?
