Now this really takes me back...
Back in High School a buddy whose dad worked at Ford said when they leased a new Lincoln they threw in a new Courier pickup in the deal for free.
Maybe it was to get them out there to help their CAFE numbers, I dunno....but for a few short years we saw a ton of them in the Metro Detroit area!
Not long after, they all seemed to disappear :burnout:

I'm really tempted. Lots of memories.

My dad had a white one. He and the neighbor got a little tipsy one saturday night and painted a purple stripe on it, cause thats the paint they had in the garage. It was gloss white but the gloss was gone after about 2 years.

But it was the car I learned to drive a manual on. And it was the car I was allowed to take when I went out at night. Many good times had in one. Turns out you can fit two guys and two girls in the front if you want to. And of course I was too stupid to take the hint that the girl sitting on my lap had a crush on me.

The down side of that car was a complete lack of power. I can remember it in first gear trying to climb a hill with engine revving and barely moving.

I have a feeling this one isn't going to sell.
It has a lot of deferred maintenance, but at least they have been well delineated so should hopefully not present a buyer with nasty surprises!

Potential good buy for one of us Canucks, as the fear of hassles importing into the U.S. (and the current 15% tariff) will keep the price down. I’m just not sure that I’m over my decade long trauma of previous 928 ownership.

Tempted to bid mid 20s and see what happens.

Doubt the reserve is that low. Import tarrifs + auction fee + deferred maintenance + transport fees + mods all eat away at that cars value for me.

Nice bid. I'll be following to see how this plays out.

I'm out on this one already, looks like money bags found it based on their past of selling multiple $100,000 Porsches.

I can't justify more than ~$30k and that's pushing it. That erases all margin.

....but I can make sure he doesn't get a deal on it.

That was a close one. Maybe I should have gone for it. Another 928 with an auto isn't my goal, couldn't get it over the line

Well, at least you succeeded in pushing up the price. Still, $28K is a hell of nice price for a GTS, even if it's in need of deferred maintenance.

The 1988 944 Turbo S (aka 952) has always been among my very favorite P-cars, in fact I test drove a Silver Rose one with Sport Seats in this cRaZy plaid interior back in late 1999 and sometimes still regret not buying it;

Before becoming Porsche people we did a deep dive into all things Shelby Dodge.
In fact, I have a large cache of 4-door L-Body SD parts stored in the garage :surrender:
Having moved on many years ago, I still have a soft spot for these bang-for-the-buck Goliath killers (and this GLH Turbo is extra super crazy nutz);

My buddy got this one. I can't wait to see it. It was a steal. I actually helped him with the decision to go for it at that price point. We'll see if we are still friends come spring :hiding: :evilgrin:

Let me know how it turns out.

My final decision was when I realized I could easily be $40,000+ deep into a car that's not all *that* different than I have now.

Worried I'd get stuck with it vs being able to flip it.

OK, what better item to kick this thread into 2026 than the automotive aberration known as the Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible;

Lots of drama in the comments section of this one. That said, there's currently a biding war on for it.
Sold for $13,664.

I would have gone to FL to pick it up for $10,000.

Not $15,000

Interesting Carrera RS 2.7 auction going on now....

Car was restored in Florida for Bobby Rahal, who owned it several years
Now a dealer is selling it.......except that ANOTHER RS has shown up with the same vin (9113601009)
Other RS is being restored at Porsche centre in Poland, and that owner has threatened legal response
Meanwhile, Graham Rahal has shown up on BAT and states categorically "their" car is real and has bid it up to $450k
Pass the popcorn please.....

I suspect it’s all bullshit. The whole analysis is riddled with confirmation bias and nobody has bothered to corroborate the data. Since the initial post, WOB responded with a bunch of information indicating that the initial “analysis” had all of the details wrong and offered to open the books to ChicagoMarketing who has gone silent. Prior to all of this, ChicagoMarketing kept selectively choosing data points to make an argument that GT3 prices would be below MSRP in no time. The analysis for that argument was all bullshit too.

That said, it sure does seem like some fishy stuff happens on BAT though. They are quick to delete comments to protect themselves.

And very quick to "moderate" posts that throw shade on a car or specific seller. BaT has become a great place for the "partner" sellers and a less-than-great place for buyers.

WOB's response was on point, however his response was defensive (and rightly so) for his own business; he does admit at the end that some dealers are working in cahoots to control inventory and pump up prices.

Also, amazing that his "defense" shows how many times some of these cars are passed around in a very short period of time
At some point the music will stop....

Looks like the auction is falling apart for the Rahal RS
Experts (GK) have chimed in and said the Polish car is the real 1009 and auction/Rahal car is a fake
Looks like Graham eating $450k on a fake unless BAT stops the auction (though I'm guessing the seller hopes Rahal takes it)

I'd like to see it less than $23 due to unknown paint condition and rough interior.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets bid up to $28-32.

A pair of surprisingly high hammer prices over the past couple days:

This 63 Vette restomod sold for $590,000.

And this Viper race car for$1,200,000

The market is still strong for the right car.

That 996 C4S has a slow start issue, probably needs some wiring repair.

How do I blow that out of proportion so no one else bids. :gaywave:
