Not going to be me, either. Everyone that I've discussed this with tells me what I already know - "That would be a terrible idea".

All those people also already saw me soak a u-boat full of money into a previous 928 over the course of 10 years. They're right of course, but that doesn't make me want it any less.

The 1978 928 project ended up selling for $9,100. Would love to see it in a finished state.

Just posting this because I'm blown away with how beautiful it is. And it also depreciated like a MF! The car cost $233K new and sold for $113K with 6,000 miles on it. Depreciation of $20 per mile driven.

And 112hp less than my Solstice GXP with the dealer-installed GMPP tune. While the Solstice isn’t as good as the Miata in most ways, being able to light ‘em up is still a lot of juvenile fun.

Being sold by a friend/customer of mine after I did a bunch of work on it.

I remember considering a 164 back when they came to the USA, and Danny Sullivan was driving for Alfa on the Indycar circuit.
We instead ended up with a 944, that we enjoyed for 20 years!

Can't fault you for choosing a 944. It's 780 better than a 164

I have an Italian market 164 with a 2.0 liter turbo V6. A friend of mine has a 968, and we've been talking about racing each other since the cars put out very similar power, but using completely different approaches. Small displacement turbo V6 with FWD versus a large displacement naturally aspirated 4-cylinder with RWD. Should be a fun experiment!

Similar to the way those Aston’s depreciate, the Maserati MC20 is just taking a nose dive on resale. I can’t believe the prices that these are selling. They are gorgeous to my eyes. Perhaps they are a bum to drive.

That sure is a beautiful car though. I saw one the other night at the shop where I hang out for Friday happy hour - it was like a dove blue color. Really a spectacular looking car. And watching that Chris Harris Top Gun video in the BaT thread makes me think it has the chops to back up the looks. If'n I had the wherewithal, that car would be very high on my radar.

Right, so the Shelby Dodges we owned in that time period were mostly all turbos but I believe the gauge clusters were similar (can't say 100% for sure).
Beyond the Speedo and Tach on our turbo L-Bodies there were GAUGES for Fuel level, Coolant Temp, Voltage and Oil Pressure.
(picture is of a Shelby GLH-S cluster that had the Speedo decal that wrapped around all the way back to 135 )

Yes, the owner of the car consigned it through Switchcars, who at least used to be active on RL.

The market is "normalizing" for sure. Everyone is saying it's crashing but what is a crash. Just about everything was stupid expensive until the Spring 2023. I'me looking at adding two more to the stable. I've sold my 993 (Carrera S) and GT3RS (991). Something of this "ilk" and a Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious Esprit. I've noticed across online platforms about a 25~% drop since the turn of the year on "regular-ish" cars, meaning most AMG's and run of the mill Porsche's. My wife is aching for a G-Wagon and while they've dropped a lot, they're still overpriced by about 30~%.

The 1st was an early Limited with a 5-speed manual, and the 2nd was a 2003 PTGT Dream Cruiser edition with the 2.4L Turbo (SRT-4) and Getrag 5-speed gearbox drivetrain.

While the NA manual version was quite useful and a great car, the PTGT was a very large step up in terms of smiles-per-mile performance

I am honestly interested in following this extremely low mileage example, that just happens to be located close by

I was in a Benz dealership this weekend in Northern NJ checking out Maybach's. I told the sales manager I typically only buy used cars especially of this ilk. He wasn't otherwise busy so we chatted for quite a bit. I asked about biz in general and he offered that C/E class and SUV equivalent business was out of control from 2019 through 2023 with everyone on the planet seemingly getting one with a small bump in S class/equivalent sales. Now? The only ones selling as normal are S classes.

They've gone from charging a $30~k premium on G wagons to having a few on the lot for several weeks. Before everyone was "upgrading" their leases to "baby AMG's", now, they're downgrading models.

There should be a few good deals out there in several months for sure. Admittedly, I got lucky on the sale of a few of my cars. The good news is that anything I sell in the next year, if I take a little hit, it'll be small considering it the cost of admission as those aren't super high brow cars (E63AMG, CL63, Cayman S). Their "replacements" will be on the higher brow end but are models that many bought as they were relatively cheap 3~ years ago and they're feeling the pain of maintenance and are running for the hills.

I'm currently in the market for a 575/599M (replacing the CL), Esprit S4 V8 (replacing the 993), and a Maybach 57 or Merc Maybach (not LWB but 12 cyl) or Bentley Mulsanne (12 Cyl). ABC equipped cars sell at a discount versus AirMatic as it freaks people out (undeservedly so - it's sublime comfort and not difficult to service). Likely a GT4 too, something track-ish for sure. I've noticed a bump in inventory of the above and hopefully it far exceeds demand when the time comes. The wife has been particularly taken by the AM Virage over the CL (surprise surprise) and the Ferrari will fill that "hole". I'm spending entirely too much time on BaT, C&B and Sotheby's perusing things and certainly entertained by the delusions some live under. Due to the surplus lately, things are consistently popping up on AutoTempest and the like too. Bodes well if you're a buyer
