We got 28 inches over the last week. Can't shovel the whole driveway with that much. Two of four garages are blocked for the next few months with large piles.

Yes, hand shovel. Lots of work but I kinda enjoy being out when it's so peaceful and quiet. We normally don't get this much at once.

Last “technician” went to the if-tight-enough-no-sealing-ring-needed school.
I’ve got a nice clean OB pan if you need it:

At this point, since I have to have this thing running/moving by Thursday I may just leave that in as it is for now. Have to do a transmission job over the next two weeks starting Friday and this needs to be able to be moved outside until that's done. I may take you up on that pan. This owner is going to be pissed as this entire job is going to be expensive.

That's awful. I would be surprised to find that on a Geo, much less on a 928. Someone was clearly not planning on changing the oil again.

Swung by the upholsterers today and George Rogers' 928 was still there, so had to grab a photo.

different, i know, but thats what im shooting for. I could take 10 different pics of these wheels and each picture would be a different hue or shade of bronze.

finally got my fog lights to work on my red 85. Just don't ask me how. I kept swapping things like headlight combo relays, fog light relay (of course), combo switch on the steering column, and finally relay IV (ignitionrelay #53 - per a very old pre-Rennlist thread). After fussing and fussing and none of the above working, I said screw it, put all the spare parts and tools away, shut everything down and the car. As I was walking away, I tried one last time, and bingo. The fogs work, the headlights work, the turn signals work and the parking lights work, all as they should. Damned if I know why, but I am glad I have accumulated a substantial inventory of extra parts over the years, or this could have been expensive.

Box of suspension springs just arrived. 3 brown stripe fronts and 2 blue stripe rears from a 90 GT.
I am changing directions and selling the Eibachs I had on the Red Witch. And likely the Konis as well.

Why?

Re: The 928 Photo Thread
Posted: Tue Mar 23, 2021 1:26 pm
by The Fat Man
Because I think I went too far. I now think the Eibachs will be too stiff. And I am leaning more towards a set of Bilsteins now instead of the Konis.
I have thought about this recently...the world I cut my teeth on, stock was 'OK', but could always be improved. I have inadvertently carried this mentality into my work with the Red Witch. I automatically thought stock suspension was too soft and overly compliant. And needed better springs, shocks, swaybars, etc... Which is why I fitted the Red Witch with Eibachs, Konis, 928 Specialists rear sway bar, repop Ott links for the front sway bar. And now I think she will ride too stiff for my tastes...

I am thinking Bilsteins because supposedly the newest generation are better, and that Konis are considered 'caveman technology.'
Part of the problem being an idiot (me) is relying on other's experience when you have none of your own.
Also, don't forget my dead mouse for my last post.
