Not quite on topic but I watched this video a couple of nights ago about Mercedes and their last LeMans entry. I had seen the photos but didn't know the backstory. Quite interesting:

Without question, this was the absolute worst coverage of a race, any race, that I’ve ever seen. No crawlers, no ID of who was being shown on the screen, no stats, no nothing except those mash potato mouth British announcers. Terrible.
Anyhoo, congrats to Ferrari for the big wins and to Porsche for the GT class win.

Congrats to Ferrari and to Porsche for the GT win

Can someone explain the purpose of “LMP2” ?
Don’t need field fillers
Ugly, identical no name spec racers piloted by no name drivers. No chance of overall win and no chance of “sell on Monday” as no one knows what they are.
Just useless moving chicanes

LMP2 is for the gentleman racer. GT class and Hypercar class have gotten so expensive that LMP2 is the class where you can buy your seat.

I bolded why I believe they are part of the race. It adds drama and potential for position changes.

Congrats to Porsche for the GT win. And congrats to Ferrari on the overall win........2nd overall win two years in a row.
I agree with LInderpat about the coverage, but it was a good race. It's amazing to me that after 24 hours the top contenders can finish so close to each other. The performance and reliability are astounding.

The 963 was certainly outclassed by both the Toyotas and Ferraris. Seriously, did anyone recall seeing a full on racing pass by a 963 on any of the Ferraris, Toyotas or even Caddys? I watched quite a bit of the race, during several portions of the day/night/day, anytime there was a pass, it was a 963 getting passed, and then losing ~1 sec per lap to the passing vehicle. Does Ferrari really have that much better engineers than Porsche, or is Porsche's engineering unit spread too thin with everything else going on in the company? Maybe Ferrari has a singular goal to win Le Mans, and Porsche is too focused on the WEC overall championship at the expense of Le Mans. I'm not sure the answer, but it pisses me off that Porsche was THE leading contender pre-race and didn't even podium. Embarrassing. Oh, Fuck Ferrari!

Here's your answer on why Ferrari is winning Le Mans. The difference between LMH and LMDh. Porsche picked well for IMSA, but poorly for WEC and Le Mans:

I'm surprised the rulemakers wouldn't find a way to either slow those cars down or bring the rest of the field level to them. That's a huge difference!
