just picked up the carpet mats i ordered last week from local OPC and was surprised they were in an old style box

then i noticed the date on the old style part number sticker.... :eyepop:

unopened for 33 years until today, and still in perfect condition.
just amazing what they must have stored in their main parts warehouse in Germany.
cheers

can certainly see the impression of the rear mats on the pile of the front one, luckily a quick hoover sorted it out.

tried suggestions on getting the white paint off the seat, but as i feared it took the blue off easier than the white, so got a few variations of bark blue leather dye and mixed them until i had a good match.
second coat on a couple of days ago and it looks better than i had hoped for in the flesh, and am happy with the colour match of the piping compared to the passenger side seat
seat now back in and that's the interior all back together, but still need a blue Porsche key ring
however hard you clean 36yr old front carpets they just look tired, so the nice new over mats make a vast difference to the interior.
cheers

i only got 1 key when i bought it so first job was to take some pictures of it just incase i lost it.
then tried to get one cut locally, most said no, some laughed, but 1 company said they knew somebody that cut them.
so gave them the key and a couple of blanks i bought.
3 weeks later they were cut and looked good, got home and tried them, no joy, had a good look at them.
the cuts were right but it was cut as a mirror image to the original :banghead: :banghead:

so after much trying finally got hold of keys4classicss, sent them the pictures and 2 weeks later got 3 new keys that work perfectly

now just needed to get the Silica key to fit into a Porsche key head, i have done it before but its not a job i like doing
lots of masking tape on the blade, a well trued bench grinder, files and small hacksaw and it eventually fitted pretty good.
i got 3 cut just incase i went to far with the bench grinder or snapped it while cutting the middle section out to fit it in the head, but all went according to plan on the first go.
+ new blue key fob.

another small job done :drink:

cheers

thought i would get the old girl out of hibernation after its winter sleep, reconnected the battery and after a couple of seconds fired right up and running smoothly

checked the levels and no coolant in the expansion tank....
took about 3L then started it up, put it on a lift and after about 5 mins of ticking over found it coming from the large O ring seal on the bottom of the coolant bridge, i guess due to a combination of old age and the auto box oil that had been circulation in the coolant.
at least its not the new radiator, but still need to get all the seals etc and just hope the hex bolts hat hold the bridge on are not seized in.
a job for a couple of weeks time.

i knew it had a water leak in the trunk area and i assumed it was just the tail gate seal, but i noticed last month that when i opened the tailgate water dripped out of the interior light on the bottom of the tailgate.
so have just stripped the tailgate and getting our windscreen guy to removed and re bond the tailgate glass and a good tome to re bond all the screws that hold the black trim on.

also a good time to straighten the large trim panel the sun visors bolt to as its a little warped, if it works well will do a thread on how i did it

just 3 questions
when i removed the black trim from around the glass, there are some spacer shims that must alight the glass in the tailgate, how many should there be? where should they be fitted ?and do they have a part number ?as i cannot see them on PET
cheers
