My notifications for BaT has increased substantially the past two weeks. I have them turned on for Porsche, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Bentley, Maybach broadly speaking and a few other specific models, such as a Honda S2000. I formerly received 3-4 notifications per day, it's now 12-15. Lots of "reserves not met" on closed auctions and a few people who bid like it's Ebay where a maximum bid will only be triggered if someone else approaches that maximum but on BaT, thats the new bid. Two weeks ago some retard up-bid a Boxster by $5k from it's then current bid which was either an error or a coup de grace. Then... four days later it was relisted. The masses are now participating en masse which to me means the denouement for the silliness.

It's crazy what it's turning into, add about a 30% premium if you plan on buying a car off BAT.

I'm going to end up getting kicked off BAT. :roflmao: BAT is becoming a bit of a joke - they don't like people pointing out serious issues on listed cars.

There's an early red MGB offered, and the seller describes the driver's side floor as having had a metal patch screwed & riveted over a rusted-out floor with some kind of sealer slathered on. The photo looks horrendous. Not the proper or certainly not the safest was to repair a structural part of a unibody MGB. The seller says about the "repair" ....."No harm".
I commented on it (even using the seller's own words) and it got flagged as non-constructive. I posted a follow-up saying what a great MGB - no issues at all.
Go check it out, and comment, if you dare incur the wrath of the BAT gods.

David - I am thinking about that red 996 tip as a track car/ driver, and I see you commented on it too. What do you think about it? I've had an 03 Boxster S with a tip, and I actually liked that transmission. Never tracked it though. I had a 6 speed 997 that was freaking heavenly, and did great on the track. I do like this red 996. Thoughts?

That red one does look nice. I tracked my (now Fernando's) 996 Tip (a stock Tip trans with no modifications, and I started tracking it with 126k miles !) for 7 years without a single issue or problem. When the car was built, I did have the shop service it but it didn't really need anything other than the fluid change & filter(s). They seem to be as sturdy and reliable on the track as for daily driving. If you don't mind a Tip on the track, I'd recommend it. Obviously doesn't shift as fast as a PDK, but I kept up with and often passed manual 996's on track. So, the difference is actually the driver, not the transmission.

I'm predicting a "Reserve not Met" for the Enterra Vipre. The seller seems to think it will bring a higher price that a nice Fiero GT. I'm not convinced.

That Vipre sold for $21,500.

I don't know the market for Fiero GT's but it strikes me as in the right ballpark at least...

Have you noticed the change of formatting at BAT? They've really screwed it up. Much more user unfriendly. For example, if you're scrolling down the page to look at newly listed (now called "ending latest"........dumb) and open something to view, when you go back, it takes you to back to the top or near top. Then you have to scroll down through the listings again. What moron designed this, and how does someone at BAT not try it out to see how it (doesn't) work?
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind.

I’ve never seen a “newly listed” choice on BAT.
One thing that’s always bothered me, as well as a “return to top” tab like eBay

I prefer the new format and have no issues with how it's working. What you describe with returning to the top of the old page after you look at an individual car is what I had happen to me in the old format. If I didn't remember to "open in new tab", I'd have that problem. I don't have that issue in this format.

When I viewed the old format, it had the same 5 Sort options that I see now:
Image
Generally, "ending latest" aligns with "newly listed", except for those few "premium listings" with extended auction periods.

I like the additional filter options on the main page. I think there's a lot of variance depending on your browser and the device you'r using to viewing it. It's always had quirks when viewed on my phone vs. laptop.

^^ As I described, it's working differently for me vs. the old format, and I don't find it as intuitive. I never experienced the site not going directly back to the point at which I clicked on a listing as it does now. I'm also smart enough to adapt to "ending latest" instead of "newly listed". I just never saw the "ending latest" term before.
If you like the new format, that's fine. :thumbup:

Check this out, the same bidder on this 962 kart also previously bought ours;
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985- ... 962-style/
Wayne Dempsey (Pelican Parts) nails it in the comments, as this clearly was a Jim Busby-liveried B.F.Goodrich version kart like ours was....but redone in Martini colors.

The bidder is the Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport, Rhode Island;

It seems like they have good taste in Karts :thumbup:

I got to drive a friend's SVT Contour when it was nearly new on track, and it was superbly done even in stock form.
My ONLY complaint (and I'm a bit picky :wink: ) was that the variable-assist power steering seemed like it was having trouble keeping up with inputs.
That would likely not be much of an issue in daily driving, but on the track it bugged me.
That's it, otherwise I thought it was darned near perfect!
This car is in the next County from me, so I'll keep my eyes on the auction just for fun.

I guess I always appreciated the understated looks of the SVT offerings, unlike a Roush or Saleen or other tuner that slaps on bodykits and graphics for effect.

As a Shelby Dodge enthusiast back in the day I thought these were a cool concept, but really rather fugly;
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991- ... consulier/

They DID methodically improve on the car a whole bunch in subsequent years, including the aesthetics....and had some racing successes as well.

But the very early ones, WOOF!
