Is where?
Always assumed it was governed by the ECU brains.
Obviously it is not, still fully functional with VEMS conversion.

Those unfamiliar, this is an idiot light. Telling you when to shift on a manual transmission.
Never really researched if it was for fuel economy or performance. Probably fuel economy.
I don’t know if it was exclusive to 85-86 MY or entire production run.

First, for what does CASIS stand? California Socialist Information System?

If it’s an idiot light it probably goes through the central warning system under the dead pedal.

It probably has a single bulb in the pod.

It probably has a single wire in the one of the pod connectors.

Wiring diagrams should allow you to trace it.

The "Computer Aided Shift Information System" is in fact a little 8048 computer with code stored on an EPROM. (Same processor is used in S2/S3 EZF and LH.)

One of these tachs with the separate consumption gauge must have been quite expensive back then.

According to my Dad back in the day (he sold Porsches and drove occasionally with Mark Donahue) “the shift up indicator light was for idiots who bought a German V8 expecting to get good gas mileage”.
