the link rod between the motor and the cooling flaps is NLA
just fitted to 87-90 models these flaps control the air flowing through the radiator and this link rod may have been removed to hold the flaps open or the plastic socket ends broken.
pictures below show the dimensions of the link rod, centers of the sockets length of rod itself and how much you will need to tap the end of the 4mm dia rod you got from the local hardware shop to make it with, buying threaded rod is cheating
the plastic sockets are still available part number is 99916802140 and looks like they also fit some heater controls on a 911 so a lot less chance of these going NLA
