the red 90 S4 i am breaking came with no key for the rear storage box lock, but i got lucky and bought a genuine Porsche key on ebay.
obviously did not turn so:
pictures show its just the large nut that holds the lock to the lid, remove nut, latch and washer and push the lock out of the lid, might be a little tight:
note the 2 small cutouts in the metal housing in the threaded section, there is a long roll pin that goes right through, push it through from either side with a small screw driver, etc until you can pull the pin fully out from the other side
then the inner lock part just pulls out
next put the key fully in, hold the outer part and pull the key to remove the tumbler assembly, KEEP THE KEY IN PLACE
the lock only has three blades in it and depending on how lucky you are depends on how many blades need to be modified or removed, it does not matter which way the key is inserted.
when the correct key is inserted all 3 blades are pulled flush with the body and so the key turns
as seen on mine the first 2 blades match my random key but the 3rd one still sticks up.
next hold all 3 blades with your fingers and then pull the key out, gently lift your fingers off the blades and they should stay in position.
on this one all i did was remove the 3rd blade, tested it and it works perfectly with just 2 blades.
if all of the blades stick up slightly, try swopping them around, they are spring loaded, but usually full dried grease and dust so they don't go far.
if still no joy, they can be slightly filed down so they are flush when the key goes in and thus then they key turns.
picture of a blade, stick out lug is what contacts the spring.
and finally :
don't break the plastic latch part as its NLA
assembly in reverse order and then marvel at your fully functioning lock
getting a second key cut for it then sticking it on ebay unless anybody reading this wants it before i do
any questions just ask.
hope this helps someone
cheers
Phil
