Hello ! Spotted this and thought I would post up over here FYI....

OPPRESSION IS THE OPIUM OF THE GODLESS

On two cars I had bad welds on the GB unit and had to yank everything down again because of it. Was on two different cars and when failed manufacturing costs me that many hours in repeat labor, I learned my lesson. Don't get me wrong, I love 99% of what GB makes and have installed uncounted numbers of items so I am a fan.
I've got $5 that this "falling out" if you want to call it that started with Roger selling Hans oil baffle design.

SeanR wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 11:09 am Yea, he gets twisted to easily.I know exactly what you mean. Howard said my GB baffle broke when he was tearing down my engine for rebuild. Had to remove the baffle in pieces. I switched to Hans baffle on the re-build.
I had installed dozens of the GB baffles in the past with zero issues, then it was the last two. Welds ground off to close and too much heat used so it warped the facing plate. I had talked to Jake since he was the one doing the fab work and he knew what was going on and said he'd take care of it with GB. I never heard back on either one.

jej3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 11:36 pmThere was a huge dust up on rennlist last year over a blown motor by Mark of 928 Intl, and the rods used, and whether Greg was responsible. Greg blamed Mark. It was public and ugly, but they seemed to have simmered down, and are cordial to each other in the threads. Who knows what happens between them in the real world though. Greg could use a good PR guy.
What's sad and I don't mean to pile on GB but I think there must have been a similar falling out between GB and 928Intl. I noticed a while back 928Intl seems to source fuel/clutch/oil lines from somewhere else, too. I could be wrong but that's what the info on their website indicates.

Give me some history, they were defunct by the time I was an owner. They are spoken of a lot, seemingly revered as the high water mark of 928 days gone by. Always been curious about it.
I sold my 928 in 2004 to a great guy. I've stayed in contact with the 928 crew in DFW due to proximity to Sean and Rog and others. There was drama then (DEVEK vs. 928 Specialists) and drama now.

It’s funny, after a few beers, quitting the day job and starting a 928 shop always sounds really appealing Dave. Then the beer wears off;)The economics of running a "real" shop - in any highly populated portion of the country - don't result in a profitable outcome unless you have at least 5 people working. It's either one guy or at least five.
SeanR wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 3:16 pm OH yea, forgot about DR and Rogers fall out. We got banned from SITM because Roger brought some parts along to give to a customer who wanted to save some $$, and DR had a problem with it. DR had real issues with Rog starting 928sRus and took it personally instead of upping his game as a competitor. DR and I talked about it about 6 years ago at Frenzy and tried to smooth over that whole thing. There are other things there that won't ever come to the light of day. That was '07- '09. '09 was the last SITM we were allowed to.Not knocking your description.

SeanR wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 5:55 pmThat's the game where all the kids line up, the teacher whispers a sentence in the ear of one kid. That kid then whispers the sentence into the ear of the kid next to them, etc. Once the whisper gets to the last kid in the line, that kid speaks the sentence out loud.worf wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 4:41 pm Sean, Did you ever play the ‘telephone’ game as a child?I can barely remember yesterday much less what I played as a kid, what's this one? The fun run with AO leading the way was something. Shortest driver's meeting I ever attended - he said two words - "keep up". Jumped in the car and off we went. It was a blast!
SITM 08 was our first. Son and I brought a pair of just rescued, cobbled up red 928s. Met the texas crew. They had struggled the whole way with a sick shark. 928srus was just getting established. Terrifying ride down the parkway, following the Detroit guys, particularly AO.
I read nearly every RL tech post for 2 years straight trying to learn.
linderpat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:32 am I'll bet a beer it was 08 :D . Sterling was there in his car. In 09, I had moved to Montana and could no longer go. So maybe Sterling went in both 08 and 09, and you guys went for a couple of years too?Hell, I can't remember. I'm just going by the dates on my FB photo album. I only made it to one SITM.
worf wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:08 pm I tor'd over to RL this evening(*).GB is in full self-destruct mode. Calling people A$$hats and basically going after the rest of the 928 Ecosystem. You are right. It IS sad!
GB's outdoing himself in terms of making new friends. It's hard/sad/embarassing to read. Two threads.
