yes, this is true. By now, many of us have had multiple cars and see fewer novel issues as we work on them, so we just need the archival material to research the more obscure things we run into. I am still going to remain a RL member though, and contribute when I can add something. I quit completely the OT/PC section on the day of the great washing (when I joined here; last July). I'll never post in those areas. I rarely even look anymore.

My membership is up at the end of April. I will not be renewing because of RL's ban of Roger and the other guys. From now till then I am going to use my PM privileges to send messages to everyone I know encouraging them to, at the very least, come over to Open Road and participate. I assume the mods don't monitor PMs correct? I suggest those of you that also can PM, do the same. That will help recruit on bunch of folks.

The day before my membership is up I will also be positing a thread indicating as such and asking anyone else who is planning to do the same thing to acknowledge it on that thread. I think it is important that IB gets to hear from their former customers on why they have decided no to no longer patronize the site.

That's exactly how this place got started!

After the OT massacre I immediately purchased a domain and installed phpBB on a server I'd been holding on to for some personal projects. I'd never done more than play with it before so it was all a learning experience that many terrific and patient friends on here helped me work through.

I was afraid that OT was going to shut down and I would end up losing contact and the dialog I really enjoy with the old group. Although in recent years I lurked more than posted, it was still a big part of my life I didn't want to lose out on.

Somehow it caught on quickly and we rebranded and became an "official" independent entity where the sky is now the limit!

I know we're still small and we're sure to endure some growing pains. We've already seen some of it, but I've given you all my word that I will do what we collectively feel is in the best interest of this community. It may not always make everyone happy but I've promised to be objective and explain any decisions so that we don't end up with a repeat of the behavior that has tainted our previous home.

And for any new refugees that want to access the Diner and Dive bar (OT forums), please reach out to me and I'll grant you access. We do offer paid memberships but for anyone seeking asylum I'm not about to force it so let me know and we'll get you in there.

WTF! Roger being bullied to leave as sponsor the first time already pissed me off, and this ban (is it temporary or permanent?) really pushed me close to quitting as a regular viewer. Roger is one of the TOP 3 reasons I decided in 2014 to join the insanity of 928 ownership (Sean and Stan being the other 2), and I would not know much about Greg's products without Roger making them available when I purchase parts.

With now Rennlist being a glorified archival place and no longer a useful new/continuing tech forum for 928, why can't we begin to start threads here with links to historic Rennlist tech topics/rebuilds that we find so useful?

I am keeping my membership though, since it is an useful site for some products/cars transactions.

The speed with which he moved to set up this alternative site and the mustering of resources to get it going and make it viable for more than a few hours was amazing.
