1064 hp.

I’ve seen ‘vette drivers on track.

My crystal ball says:

“Those things will get wrapped around trees at a greater-than-Viper rate.”

Full disclosure: we have a C5 Z06 (and have driven it on track.) So, I feel like I can talk shit about ‘vette drivers… :drunk:

Yeah, we used to call the Viper club guys the FFA club because they left more ruts on the runout than any plowed field in Kansas. Looks like chebbie upped the competition.

This is the key fob to my tractor..... if I were to ever get a corvette I'd just switch it over.

A long time ago in a galaxy far away…

… a head instructor at a driving school regaled me and CarChick with stores of the Viper Club’s track days.

Body/Repair shop guys loved’em too.

Didn't the Viper have no electronic aids at all though?

I'm thinking the Vette will probably end up with fewer incidents because of the nannies and the mid-engine creating a little better weight distribution when accelerating. But never underestimate someone with a lot of power doing something stupid.

Yup. But doesn’t matter.

There’s a mentality involved that thinks stability control is “intrusive.”

And…

… stability control cannot produce traction out of thin air, reduce or increase polar moment, reverse human-induced extreme weight transfer, etc. It has no waiver for the Laws of Physics.

A 1000 hp car that weighs 3800 pounds (my guess) will get into trouble faster than you can imagine (for values of “you” that might not have experienced such power-to-weight ratios.)

I suspect that we’ll find out that stability control for this monster is an onion: many layers that have to be peeled away one at a time.

Unless a meteor hit the building housing GM’s lawyers there is *no way* it will be easy to access the full potential of this monster.
