They really got started with the 996 Cups then 997 Cups for racing, along with modifying street going versions. Norbert Webber worked with Olaf on the MR body kits to improve aerodynamics. The MR setup would beat the factory 996RSR in Porsches wind tunnel with the rounded edges which had much better air management, a lot of this would be carried over to the later 991 RSR which Norbert had a big hand in.
The original MR wide body car used a 996tt engine with the intercoolers moved to the top to protect from the tires/rubbing, the kit also moved a lot of the radiators to push hot air out the side of the car and protect them better than the factory RSRs. The 996 turbo motor ended up being too much power causing excessive tire wear, at which point they built the first of the 4.4L NA motors.
Meeting Nobert and Olaf in person was a hell of an experience along with getting to see the behind workings. The 996/997 MR parts are really becoming very hard to find like the Andial aircooled parts.
