This is very bad news. Includes my state - PA, which is tilting left by the minute.

I just don't see our society being able to meet these standards in just 8 years. Consider how long it takes to develop a vehicle and electrics are still but a small portion of overall new car sales.

This is one of those things that as we get closer it'll continue to get pushed further and further out.

Half of this country is broke - so how are they supposed to afford an electric car?

Then the push will be toward public transportation.
They can try to push but aside from large population centers, name an area with a real practical working public transportation system. Not everyone works "downtown" so using the usual hub and spoke system of most cities it could take hours to get to your destination. There will be an uproar if something like this occurs.
